Singer & songwriter Jimmy Roggers, was born on Valentine's Day 1962, in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia. He grew up in a family that was active in both music and sports, with skiing and mountaineering being a part of everyday life. During his youth, he often sang at their numerous family events, as well as at school parties. An increasing interest in music began developing in elementary school when he started playing mandolin, and later playing guitar in the school orchestra.
The 16 year old teenager, Jimmy, then began roaming throughout Europe, doing a lot of hustling by playing music on the streets of numerous of German cities, as well as in France and Switzerland. This life experience motivated him to focus on a musical career, and he became influenced by songwriters such as James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Arlo Guthrie, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, in addition to Bruce Springsteen, Mark Knopfler, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and other artists...
At 20, Jimmy started performing with various bands along the Adriatic Coast, experimenting with different music styles, while at the same time keeping his ears open in search of new directions.
By the time Jimmy turned 26, he decided to travel down the musician's road***, living solely from his music abilities. By this time, he comes to realize that this was what he always wanted to do, and feels himself being drawn to the life of a musician. Nevertheless, he then moves to Austria, works for a while as a ski instructor, and then becomes a professional music artist. Since 1991, he started gaining success by playing in the country scene, which developed into being his main style, and combining this with gigs as a soloist, a duo and continuing to perform with his band. His CD "Fancy Cowboys" released in 1994, was the product of his creativity and talent for songwriting and music production, and its success has since boosted Jimmy's growing reputation in the European country music scene. He performs at numerous festivals and gigs throughout the country, as well as in Germany and Switzerland. He recorded his 2nd CD "When the sun begins to shine" in 1997, for the Texas recording studio BSW Records/Universal City in the USA. Music producers such as Wink Taylor (George Strait) & Frank Wilson have introduced this CD to independent radio stations worldwide. Back in Austria, together with his friends Tex Robinson & Karin, Jimmy recorded the CD "Colors of Life", and later the record label "Allmusica" /Hamburg took over the promotion for this CD in Germany. Jimmy spends some of his free time at the studio helping other artists produce and write new songs.
In 2003, he went on a tour in Macedonia, and made a TV show for the famous Macedonian "Makfest" Pop Music Festival. His performance gained wide popularity throughout the entire region. Jimmy made a compilation CD called "Greatest Hits" in 2005, including the most inspiring songs he had played up until that time. He continues performing live as a soloist, or with his band, and takes part in a variety of events, festivals and gatherings.
In 2008 Jimmy Roggers & Band performed for the compilation DVD "The Best of Country Austria" for TV Burgenland/Austria by Tyrolis Records, together with artists including Waterloo, Andy Lee Lang, and Tex Robinson etc... His creativity and songwriting inspires him to continue working and recording. His latest project is the CD called "Steep and Deep". The promotion of his current new album is scheduled for 2009.
